Sheila Kennedy is a founding partner of Kennedy & Volich Architecture, Ltd, an interdisciplinary design practice that explores architecture, digital technology, materials science research, and sustainability. Currently a Professor of Architecture at MIT, Sheila directed Harvard's Master of Architecture program from 1991-1995. She has served as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy and is the author of multiple patents for the intregration of digital technologies into architecture, building materials, and textiles. She receieved a U.S. Congressional Award for the design of energy harvesting solar textile kits. KVA's cutting edge architecture has received numerous awards including a national Honor Award from AIA for their East 34th Street Ferry Terminal in New York.
